Minimum Age: 18 years old

Reports to: USPCA Wildlife Rescue and Animal Care Officer
 

Principal Function

The purpose of this role is to work alongside the Wildlife Rescue Officer to help with the rescue and transport of sick or injured wildlife across the province. 

Principal Duties 

To organise containment of the injured animal using the equipment supplied.

To always have the safety of the animal, and the safety of yourself and others as a priority. Always use the correct equipment and PPE.

Provide quick assessment of casualty and liaise with Wildlife Rescue Officer to transport animal to a local vet or USPCA vet.

Hygiene control – ensuring appropriate sanitisation, handwashing and avoiding cross contamination.

Full clean of carrier after every rescue using cleaner provided.

To provide overnight care for said animal when applicable.

All Volunteers are required to:

Take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions, always adhering to the USPCA protocols.

To adhere to the volunteer policy. 

To always operate within the guidelines outlined in all other USPCA policies and procedures.

To always maintain Strict Confidentiality.

To participate in training deemed necessary by the USPCA.

To always act as a good ambassador for the USPCA, supporting its policies, procedures and aims.
