Reports to: Director of Operations & Development
PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: The purpose of this role is to collect food parcels from the head office in Newry and deliver to the food banks in your designated area.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
To assist with picking up food parcels from the USPCA centre in Newry and take to food banks in your allocated region in an efficient manner.
To assist with maintaining a good relationship with the people who work in the food banks.
To liaise with the membership and community outreach officer about delivery schedules.
To contact the food banks to confirm drop off times.
To complete monthly expenses sheets and van logs and hand to membership and outreach officer each month.
To assist in keeping the food bank area clean and always organised.
To be a good ambassador for the USPCA, supporting and endorsing the aims of the charity and promoting the good image of the charity when interacting with the public and fellow volunteers.
To assist in ensuring all health and safety processes are followed.
To manage all data in relation to the USPCA clients in accordance with data protection legislation and confidentiality.
To participate in events arranged by the USPCA to support the charitable work of the USPCA.
To undertake any other duties as and when necessary.
SKILLS, QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE:
To be over 25 years of age.
To have the ability to communicate with the public in a professional manner (Essential).
To be reliable and trustworthy.
To enjoy working as part of a team.
To be able to work on routine tasks.
ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO:
To adhere to the volunteer policy.
To always work within the guidelines outlined in all other USPCA policies and procedures.
Be smart in appearance and wear the uniform provided by the USPCA. Sensible shoes must be always worn.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Participate in training deemed necessary by the USPCA and attend volunteer meetings.
