How does Gift Aid work?
If you support the USPCA through making a donation of money or donating goods that we resell in our charity stores, we are able to reclaim an extra 25p for every £1 raised. This makes a huge difference in income for us, and every extra penny makes a difference to animals in need.
Last year, the additional funds we received through Gift Aid meant that we were able to provide around 5,000 meals for the cats, dogs and wildlife in our care, at no additional cost to the charity.
It is easy to register as a Gift Aid donor, and it costs you nothing at all!
Are my donations eligible for Gift Aid?
A charity can claim Gift Aid when you make a monetary donation from your own funds and have paid UK Income and / or Capital Gains Tax during that tax year. The amount of tax you pay needs to be at least equal to the value of Gift Aid the charity will claim on your donation(s).
If circumstances change and you no longer pay enough tax, it’s important to tell all the charities you support. If you don’t tell them and they continue claiming Gift Aid, you’ll need to pay any difference back to HMRC.
You will receive emails from us throughout the year to let you know how much Gift Aid you have been able to donate.
