The USPCA is proud to announce that its Special Investigations Unit has been awarded two prestigious challenge coins in recognition of its significant contribution to recording incidents of badger-related crime in Northern Ireland, carrying out preventative work, and undertaking investigations that have helped bring this serious issue into the public eye.

One coin was awarded by the Badger Tactical Delivery Group, and the second by the National Wildlife Crime Unit (NWCU). Both were presented by Chief Inspector Lacks-Kelly, Head of the NWCU, during a recent visit acknowledging the impact and commitment of the USPCA’s investigative team.

As the only animal charity in Northern Ireland actively investigating multiple forms of organised animal cruelty, the USPCA remains steadfast in its mission to expose, disrupt, and dismantle illegal activity that harms animals. The recognition from national wildlife crime partners reflects the importance of this work and the ongoing need for specialised investigative capacity within the charity sector.

To ensure this vital work can continue, the USPCA is calling on public support through its December Donation Drive. Every contribution directly strengthens efforts to protect vulnerable wildlife and hold offenders to account.
