Bird Rescued from Tarring Incident
This small bird was recently in the care of our veterinary team after it flew into tar while workmen were tarring in the Hilltown area of Co. Down. Thank you to the workmen for their prompt response in scooping this little one up and bringing it immediately to the USPCA. The poor bird was completely covered in tar which was painstakingly removed by our vet, Lorna. Thankfully the tar was able to be fully removed, resulting in only slight loss of feathering.
Despite its ordeal, the bird recovered really well overnight – displaying a healthy appetite and stretching its feathers while down with our veterinary team. With the great work of Lorna and the quick-thinking of the workmen, this little bird was ready to fly another day and was safely released!
